Food Manufacturing Facility Control-System Uplift and Recommissioning
Control-system uplift and recommissioning for a temperature-controlled food facility after care-and-maintenance.
The site was west of Melbourne and had been in care-and-maintenance, requiring recommissioning before returning to operation. The control system included a Rockwell CompactLogix PLC, Citect SCADA, Vacon VSDs and ABB VSDs. Original project files, setpoint records and drawing information were incomplete, missing or unreliable. The system needed to be recovered, checked, documented and recommissioned carefully before the facility could be brought back into service.
- 01 Recovered and reviewed available PLC and SCADA project files
- 02 Re-established missing or lost setpoint information where practical
- 03 Reviewed Rockwell PLC logic and Citect SCADA configuration
- 04 Checked and recommissioned Vacon and ABB VSDs
- 05 Recommissioned the control system for return to operation
- 06 Redlined drawings to reflect actual site and control-system condition
- 07 Assisted with practical fault finding and operational readiness
Vacon and ABB VSDs were checked, configured and recommissioned, with motor-control behaviour verified against the recovered control logic before the facility was returned to service.
- 01 Recovered a supportable control-system basis for recommissioning
- 02 Improved documentation through drawing redlines and project file recovery
- 03 Recommissioned the control system for return to operation
- 04 Reduced uncertainty caused by missing project records and setpoints
- 05 Provided a practical upgrade path for future support and improvement
