Overview

The driver provides direct symbolic read and write access to PACSystems controllers from Ignition. Simply publish the required PLC variables and access them by name in Ignition, without assigning register addresses or maintaining a separate address map.

The driver runs within the Ignition Gateway and communicates directly with PACSystems controllers over SRTP, without requiring an external OPC server. Direct reference memory access is also supported for existing applications that use addressed memory.

Capabilities

What it does

Symbolic variables by name

Item path is the PLC variable name, including arrays, 2-D elements, UDT members and UDFB outputs. Names resolve on the CPU, so a new PLC variable works as soon as the tag is created.

Reference memory too

%R, %AI, %AQ as INT, UINT, DINT, UDINT, REAL and strings; %I, %Q, %M, %T, %S, %SA, %SB, %SC and %G as bits and bytes.

Follows PLC downloads

The driver tracks program downloads automatically, and tag quality reflects both the CPU state (RUN / STOP) and the connection.

Verified writes

Writes are enabled per device. Every write is range-checked, never truncated and read back to confirm; BOOL writes are bit-exact.

Diagnostics built in

PLC state, sweep time, privilege, request cost and the live read interval of every tag, visible from Ignition.

Read and write only

The driver uses a fixed set of data services. It never runs or stops the CPU, transfers programs or forces I/O.
