Overview

A reusable, inheritance-based Perspective library of equipment symbols, faceplates, navigation, alarm banner and role-based security, built on high-performance HMI principles and developed against a Siemens S7-1500 reference project.

The library gives a new Ignition project a tested starting point: equipment symbols, faceplates, navigation, alarm banner and role-based security, all consistent across sites. Project time goes into the process rather than into redrawing common equipment.

It follows high-performance HMI practice: a calm greyscale display where the operator’s attention goes to what is abnormal, with consistent faceplates so an operator who knows one piece of equipment knows them all.

The library is delivered as a complete install covering views, theme, tag definitions and security levels, either as a gateway backup for a new gateway or as a package for an existing one.

Capabilities

What it does

High-performance HMI

Greyscale process graphics where colour is reserved for abnormal states. Running equipment is not green, and bad-quality values render as --- rather than 0 or a stale number.

Symbols and faceplates

Equipment symbols for the flowsheet and matching faceplates for drives, valves, PID loops, analog instruments and totalisers, each bound from a single equipment UDT.

Navigation and alarms

Navigation tree, breadcrumbs, equipment search and an alarm banner ordered by severity, all generated from configuration.

Role-based security

A five-level role ladder from Viewer to Administrator. Write buttons are gated by role and shown disabled rather than hidden.

Inherit, don't copy

Plant projects set the library as their parent project, so library updates flow to every site without copying views.

Generated and verifiable

Views, styles, UDTs, navigation and security are generated from source, so every change is diffable and checked before release.
